11 kg hashish oil worth ₹1.5 crore seized, three held in Kandukur

The Special Operations Team (SOT) Maheshwaram Zone and Kandukur police seized 11 kg of hashish oil worth approximately ₹1.50 crore and arrested three persons who were allegedly transporting the contraband to Hyderabad from Lambasingi.

The accused were identified as Morupoju Ravi Varma, 27, Jarpula Lokesh, 26, and Syed Sohail Hussain, 27. Police intercepted the Maruti Swift car in which they were travelling near Navaru Balreddy Function Hall on Srisailam Highway during vehicle checking on Friday morning.

Police said the three were travelling towards Hyderabad through Lambasingi, Khammam, Miryalaguda, Devarakonda, Kalwakurthy and Kandukur. During the search, 11 transparent packets containing a black-coloured substance suspected to be hashish oil were found. The police seized 11 kg of hashish oil, two mobile phones and the car bearing registration number TS 07 HT 6393.

According to police, Ravi Varma, who had previously been involved in an NDPS case among several other cases, came into contact with a supplier known as “Bunny”, a resident of Lambasingi. Ravi Varma, along with Lokesh and Sohail Hussain, allegedly travelled to Lambasingi in a self-drive car hired from Kothapet and procured the hashish oil by paying about ₹9.5 lakh.

The trio allegedly brought the contraband to Hyderabad for sale to consumers at Secunderabad railway station. Police said they travelled through several interior routes, avoiding the main routes in an attempt to evade checking.

A case has been registered at Kandukur police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
