2 Chiefs veterans miss Friday practice ahead of Week 1 tilt vs Broncos - Chiefs Wire
Veteran defensive back Chamarri Conner and second-year offensive lineman Josh Simmons were non-participants in the Kansas City Chiefs' practice session on September 11 ahead of the team's Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos on 'Monday Night Football.'
Conner is said to be dealing with a knee injury, while Simmons has been recovering from a lower back issue. Neither player was able to take the field for workouts on Thursday, and both are likely to miss Kansas City's primetime showdown with Denver on September 14 after missing the Chiefs' latest practice session.
Kansas City will utilize a combination of defensive backs β including young upstarts Jaden Hicks and Xavier Nwankpa β to fill Conner's role in Steve Spagnuolo's secondary. Rookie offensive lineman Kahlil Benson is likely to be the Chiefs' replacement for Simmons at the left tackle position in Week 1.
