2 more arrested in Jharkhand exam irregularities case; 13 suspects caught so far

The CID has arrested two more people in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in Jharkhand, taking the number of arrests in the JSSC Combined Graduate Level examination-2023 case to 13, an official said on Tuesday.

In a related development, the agency also arrested a coaching centre operator in Ranchi in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. The CID has arrested more than 20 people in that case so far, including former JPSC chairman L Khiangte.

An official said Dilip Kumar Paswan, 41, from Bihar's Jamui district, was arrested in connection with the alleged irregularities in the JSSC-CGL examination in 2023. He allegedly provided unfair advantages to several candidates who appeared for the examination, the official said.

With Paswan's arrest, the CID has so far arrested 13 people in connection with the irregularities' case, the official added.

In the JPSC-related case, the arrested coaching centre operator was identified as Sanjit Kumar, a resident of Ranchi. “Kumar has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. The arrested accused runs Ranchi-based Shivangan Coaching and was operating as an agent,” the official said.

The CID has so far arrested more than 20 people in this case, including former JPSC chairman L Khiangte, who was arrested on August 10.

Job aspirants had staged protests from July 25, demanding cancellation of examinations conducted by the JPSC and JSSC and a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities.

On August 18, the state government announced the cancellation of several recruitment examinations, including the JSSC-CGL-2023, after the protests, following which the aspirants withdrew their agitation.
