20,000 cops, 19-km route: Hyderabad police gear up for Ganesh idol immersion

Around 20,000 police personnel will be deployed across Hyderabad for the upcoming Ganesh idol immersion procession, with authorities conducting a joint inspection of the 19-km route from Balapur to Tank Bund on Tuesday, to ensure smooth and safe movement of idols.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, along with senior officials from the police, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Roads and Buildings Department and other line departments, inspected the procession route ahead of the immersion.
The officials travelled by a special bus from the Balapur Ganesh pandal through Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, Charminar and M.J. Market before proceeding towards the Telangana Thalli Flyover. They stopped at key points, including Rajesh Medical Hall, Gulzar Houz, M.J. Market Junction and Telugu Thalli Junction, to assess road conditions, overhead clearances and height restrictions along the route.
The entire procession route will be monitored continuously through CCTV cameras from the Telangana Integrated Command Control Centre. The police will also deploy Quick Response Teams, dog squads, anti-chain-snatching teams and SHE Teams at strategic locations to prevent untoward incidents and ensure the safety of devotees and the general public.
Addressing the media after the inspection, Mr. Sajjanar appreciated the cooperation extended by the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi and local organisers to the government and police over the years.
The Commissioner said coordination meetings with various departments had been held over the past month to streamline arrangements for the procession. Senior officials from GHMC, HMDA, TRANSCO, R&B, HMWSSB, RTA and the Health Department will be stationed round-the-clock at the Telangana State Integrated Command and Control Centre on immersion day to coordinate operations.
Mr. Sajjanar directed zonal officers to closely monitor their respective areas and ensure that Ganesh idols from various pandals leave for immersion on time. With rains continuing in the city, he also urged pandal organisers to strictly follow safety guidelines and take precautions to prevent electrical hazards.
Mr. Sajjanar appealed to devotees, citizens and festival organisers to cooperate with the police and other departments to ensure that the procession concludes peacefully and without any untoward incidents.
