3-storey building collapses in Haryana, 2 dead, 5 injured; 15-20 feared trapped

At least two persons were killed and five others were injured after a three-storey under-construction building collapsed in Haryana's Ambala city on Sunday, triggering a massive rescue operation.

The building collapsed suddenly in Dhulkot village, leaving several workers feared trapped under the debris. Police and district administration teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with the help of the NDRF, SDRF, fire brigade and ambulance services.

Officials said the exact number of people trapped under the debris was not yet known. Initial estimates suggested that 15 to 20 people could be trapped, but this has not been confirmed.2 BODIES RECOVERED, 5 PEOPLE UNDER TREATMENT

Ambala City SDM Darshan Kumar said two bodies had been recovered from the debris so far, while several people had been rescued and taken to hospital.

Four of those rescued have already been discharged, while five remain under treatment, he said. The injured are reportedly in serious condition. "A total of 12 individuals have been identified so far, including the deceased," Kumar said.

The SDM said there was no confirmed information yet on the exact number of people trapped inside the building. He said the building's ownership details were also yet to be established.

According to the official, both the contractor and the building owner had left the site. Kumar said appropriate action would be taken against those found responsible for the collapse.
