3 UPSC failures, 8 years with no job, then a Rs 17 lakh offer: Here's how he did it
After completing his engineering degree in 2018, Sudarshan Ravankole spent years trying to build a career around the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Three attempts later, he changed direction. What followed was a move into AWS, cloud and DevOps, eventually leading to a reported Rs 17 lakh-per-year offer from Carelon Global Solutions.
The story of Sudharshan’s career reset was shared on the Cloud DevOps Hub YouTube channel, detailing his shift from UPSC preparation to tech and the skills he built to land the job offer.
Ravankole had completed his BE in Computer Science and Engineering from Matoshri Pratishthan School of Engineering in Nanded in 2018. UPSC was his chosen route, but three attempts did not produce the result he wanted.
After his third attempt, he decided to stop chasing the civil services dream and look for another career path.

Ravankole travelled to Hyderabad for AWS coaching, but the programme did not meet his expectations. Instead of abandoning the idea of entering tech, he began learning Cloud and DevOps through the CloudDevOpsHub YouTube channel.
His LinkedIn profile now lists skills including AWS, Linux, Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Prometheus and Grafana. His profile also shows a six-month DevOps multicloud internship at CloudDevOpsHub, which he completed in 2025.

Learning the technology was only half the battle. Ravankole initially struggled to get his applications shortlisted.
He then changed how he approached job applications. Instead of sending the same resume everywhere, he began reading individual job descriptions and modifying his resume to match the skills and requirements employers were looking for.

His recent LinkedIn activity also shows him announcing a new journey with Carelon Global Solutions in Gurugram.
