5 Lucknow hospital ambulances fined Rs 50,000 for expired fitness certificates

Five ambulances of Lucknow's King George's Medical University (KGMU) have been fined a total of around Rs 50,000 for operating without valid fitness certificates. Of the five ambulances, one of them had failed its fitness test nearly a decade ago.

Five ambulances of Lucknow's King George's Medical University (KGMU) have been fined a total of around Rs 50,000 for operating without valid fitness certificates. Of the five ambulances, one of them had failed its fitness test nearly a decade ago.

The ambulance, registered in the name of the KGMU Registrar, had failed its fitness test in 2017 but continued to be used for transporting patients, according to officials. It has now been issued a challan of Rs 17,000.

The remaining four ambulances were issued challans between Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 each, taking the total amount of fines to around Rs 50,000.

The action was taken by the Lucknow Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) during an enforcement drive.

Officials said further action would be taken against other vehicles found operating without valid fitness certificates.- Ends
