₹7 lakh recovered from NIMS barber as Telangana ACB widens searches in Additional Medical Superintendent’s DA case

Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) widened its investigation into the disproportionate assets (DA) case against Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Additional Medical Superintendent Nori Lakshmi Bhasker, with searches at the houses of five employees of the institute.

During the searches, which began in the morning, the agency recovered ₹7 lakh in cash from Dhanraj, employed as a barber at the NIMS. The ACB is examining land documents and tracing the money trail at all five locations as part of the continuing investigation.

The latest searches come after the ACB booked Dr. Bhasker (56), in a disproportionate assets case and carried out searches at his residence and seven other locations linked to his relatives, friends, alleged benamis and associates on September 20.

The earlier searches allegedly unearthed assets valued at ₹6.13 crore. These included flats and plots, bank and post-office deposits, investments and mutual funds, besides 517.8 grams of gold, four cars and four two-wheelers.

The agency is now examining whether the assets and financial transactions detected during the fresh searches have any links to the disproportionate assets case against the NIMS official. Further investigation is underway.
