Actor Rashmika Mandanna meets MS Subbulakshmi's family after biopic launch. Watch

A special moment from the making of MS: A Legacy On Screen has caught attention online, with Rashmika Mandanna and the film’s producers meeting the family of late legendary singer MS Subbulakshmi. A video shared by the team shows Rashmika, Bunny Vasu and Rockline Venkatesh visiting the musician's family at a temple, ahead of the biopic’s journey to the screen.

The makers described the meeting as a moment of love, respect and gratitude, thanking MS Subbulakshmi’s family for their unconditional support for the project. The temple’s exact location has not been officially confirmed. However, the visuals have led to speculation online, with some social media users suggesting that the meeting took place at a temple in Chennai, while others believe it could be in Madurai, the temple city associated with MS Subbulakshmi’s early life. The visit comes soon after the makers officially launched the film, with Rashmika as the actor playing MS Subbulakshmi. The pan-Indian biopic is jointly produced by Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh and Bunny Vasu, and is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri of Jersey fame, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music.

The film was launched on MS Subbulakshmi’s 110th birth anniversary, with Kamal Haasan giving the first clap. At the launch event, Rashmika spoke about the responsibility of portraying the legendary Carnatic singer and expressed her gratitude for being chosen for the role. “I feel very proud to speak in front of you all. Right now, I have only one feeling in my heart, and that is gratitude,” Rashmika said at the launch. She also promised to give her best for the role.

Kamal Haasan, who was the chief guest at the event, meanwhile, compared the pressure of portraying MS Subbulakshmi to that of playing a global icon such as Michael Jackson. He also praised her musical legacy and said her songs in several languages helped bring people together.
