Admit Chandrasekharan murder as an ‘irreparable mistake,’ K.K. Rema demands CPI(M)

Vadakara MLA K.K. Rema, wife of slain Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan, has asked the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] leadership whether it had the political honesty to acknowledge the RMP leader’s murder as an “irreparable mistake” committed by the party.

Her remarks came against the backdrop of the CPI(M)’s extended State committee meeting in Kozhikode, convened to review the party’s political and organisational shortcomings.

In a Facebook post on Sunday (September 13, 2026), Ms. Rema recalled Chandrasekharan’s opposition to, what she described as, the leadership’s “corruption and policy deviations” and his support for political struggles waged by leaders, including V.S. Achuthanandan. She alleged that the CPI(M) leaders had conspired to murder Chandrasekharan because of his uncompromising stand against the leadership’s mistakes.

Ms. Rema asked whether the party leadership was now prepared to admit before the Keralam society that the killing of Chandrasekharan was an “irreparable mistake.”

Chandrasekharan, a former CPI(M) leader, was hacked to death at Onchiyam in Kozhikode district in May 2012. His murder led to a major political controversy in Keralam.
