Airline arithmetic - Bangkok Post
Re: "THAI pressed over cargo", (BP, Oct 1).
The data THAI provided on the baggage fiasco simply doesn't add up. We are told that of the 10,000 pieces of delayed luggage, 1,800 have been cleared.
Furthermore, THAI claims it can process up to 2,000 pieces a day and has made the bold claim that they aim to clear the backlog by today or no later than tomorrow! (Oct 1 or 2). If they can process only a maximum of 2,000 bags a day, what hope do they have of clearing the remaining approximately 8,200 bags in two days?
THAI might also be asked to explain why it has taken so long to clear the first 1,800 bags. Most importantly, if the baggage backlog is going to be cleared no later than Oct 2, why is THAI predicting it will take another seven days to return to normal operations? Surely an earlier resumption of all flights with no more cancellations is possible.
