AISF to visit welfare hostels across State from September 21 to 28

The All India Students’ Federation (AISF) State Committee announced on Sunday, September 20, 2026, that it will conduct a State-wide visit to SC, ST, BC, minority, Gurukul, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) welfare hostels from September 21 to 28.
Addressing a press conference, the federation’s State general secretary B. Naserji said students staying in welfare hostels across the State were facing several problems. Though the government had announced an elaborate menu, it had failed to increase the mess charges in accordance with the rising prices of essential commodities, he alleged.
“Several welfare hostels lacked basic facilities such as windows, fans, lights and compound walls,” he said and added that the students were not provided with trunks and blankets even though the academic year had commenced.
Citing a recent observation made by the State High Court over the problems prevailing in welfare hostels, the federation leader said some girls’ hostels did not even have watchmen. He said there were more than 30 incidents where students of the welfare hostels had to be admitted to hospitals.
The AISF leader also demanded the immediate release of pending mess and cosmetic charges and their revision in accordance with the prevailing prices of essential commodities. He also demanded that fine-quality rice be supplied to students staying in welfare hostels.
He said the federation members would visit these hostels to identify the problems being faced by students and based on the findings, the organisation would launch large-scale agitation seeking immediate measures to address the problems.
AISF State vice-president Sai Kumar, Vijayawada city president Jagadeesh, secretary Ranjith, leaders Shanmukh Priya, Raju, Yashwanth and others were present.
