Country singer and political commentator Alexis Wilkins has announced her engagement to FBI Director Kash Patel after three years of dating.
Wilkins, 27, confirmed that they would be tying the knot with a post on X, which she captioned: “Went and got the law involved.”
The pair have been dating since at least 2023, with Patel, 46, since becoming a controversial figure after his appointment as FBI director in 2025.
Several of those controversies have been centered around Wilkins herself, with her now-fiancé reportedly using an FBI plane to travel to an event where she was singing.
Below we look at what we know about the FBI director’s future wife.
Wilkins was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to her Gillett executive father and aerospace financial specialist mother.
Speaking on The Megyn Kelly Show, Wilkins revealed she grew up in both the U.S. and in Europe, spending time in the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
In England she lived in the historic English town of Windsor, which is also home to the Royal Family’s Windsor Castle, and went to boarding school near Geneva.
Backed in the U.S., the young music fan would go on to live in Arkansas. “It was my favourite place that I lived,” she told Kelly. “That’s where the country music came from.”
In order to support Wilkins’ goal of becoming a country music artist, her family eventually moved to Nashville, her website reads. She also graduated from Belmont University, majoring in business and political science.
Wilkins would dabble as a child actor, appearing in two episodes of the hit ABC comedy Modern Family in 2009 and also making appearances in Disney’s Dog with a Blog and Nickelodeon's Instant Mom. Her other credits include a small part in the 2011 Adam Sandler movie Jack and Jill.
Inheriting a Gibson guitar from her great-grandfather, she has been writing songs from the age of nine, and began traveling to Nashville for music trips in her teens.
She released her debut EP, Grit , back in 2023. The release features tracks including Heaven in a Stetson and One of the Guys. According to Wilkins’ website, the album debuted at 12th place on the iTunes country album charts.
Musically, Wilkins is a traditionalist, with “unapologetic storytelling, cowboy-like leaning, and definitive pull from the past,” her website says.
“Country music is here to stay” Wilkins herself goes on to say. “I want people to hear truthful songs. These are real moments in my life and vignettes in time, and country music has always been the truth.”
Wilkins has sung the national anthem on a number of notable occasions, including once at President Trump's Great American State Fair to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Several other artists had pulled out of the celebration due to the event not being nonpartisan.
Outside of music, Wilkins enjoys spending time with her dog, collecting old books and working on her 1989 F-150 Lariat pickup truck, her website adds.
Wilkins became more widely known as a conservative political commentator. In December 2024, she announced on X that she would serve as press secretary to incoming Representative Abe Hamadeh.
“Honored to be a part of ushering in leadership for a safer, more prosperous, GREATER nation,” she wrote on X. “Excited to be on the team. Let’s make answering to the people great again.”
According to her LinkedIn page, she has been a board committee member of the National Rifle Association as well as a consultant for The American Border Story since 2025.
The singer has also worked with PragerU, starring in a 2023 video entitled Alexis Wilkins: I Found My Voice in My Love for America.
“I grew up in a Christian home,” she says in the video. “My parents definitely taught me the role that God plays in all of our lives and in my life. And I think that that’s definitely a huge part of who I am now.”
In the clip, Wilkins goes on to set out her criticisms of modern society in the U.S.
“We are lonelier. We are on our phones more. We have access, widespread access, to really anything we need,” she says. “We’ve had no military draft, we have no wartime application. We have Postmates. Everything is instant gratification.”
Wilkins said on The Megyn Kelly Show that she first met Patel while at an event at a friend’s house. The pair have been dating since at least 2023.
“I just liked that he was so, so honest. He is exactly who he is all the time,” she said. “His character is incredible; his values are incredible. You know, we both are very patriotic, so obviously there are things there that we definitely agree on.”
Patel, a close Trump ally, has come under close scrutiny since he was appointed as director of the FBI in February 2025.
“Mr Patel was nominated for one reason: To do Donald Trump’s bidding,” Senator Martin Heinrich wrote on X at the time. That’s a direct contradiction of the FBI’s motto: ‘Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity.’”
The FBI director faced backlash after reportedly using an agency jet to attend a pro wrestling match at State College, Pennsylvania, where the singer was performing the national anthem.
Wilkins shared a picture of herself clutching a golden championship belt, as well as another image of both her and Patel in the crowd.
Patel would later take to social media to defend Wilkins, whom he described as a “rock-solid conservative.”
Wilkins has previously hit out at conspiracy theories claiming that she has links to the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad.
In a lawsuit filed against influencer Kyle Seraphin, she cited a moment on his podcast in which he accused her of being a “honeypot” and a “former Mossad agent.”
Wilkins alleges that he asserted that she was assigned to “manipulate and compromise the Director of the FBI.” The lawsuit seeks damages of $5 million.
Another lawsuit was filed by Wilkins against influencer Samuel Parker, who had also alleged that she had links to Israel. A motion to dismiss filed by Parker’s legal team was eventually agreed to by a judge.
