The Palarivattom police probing the alleged dacoity at the rented residence of a group of migrant workers have arrested six people in connection with the case, the police said on Saturday (September 19, 2026). Search is on for one more accused.

The police have not disclosed the identity of the arrested, as an identification parade with the victims is pending. The six were nabbed from different locations in the State, the police said.

They added that five of the accused were directly involved in the alleged dacoity, while investigations revealed that the crime was planned and commissioned by two others who reportedly run an illegal business at Palarivattom.

The police said the accused had dispersed to different locations after committing the dacoity, and police teams were deployed to various places, including Kottayam, Palakkad, and Kollam. Some of the accused had attempted to flee to Assam, the police added.

“The previous criminal antecedents of the accused were verified, and five of the arrested were found to have previous criminal cases. Investigation is on to establish the individual role of each accused, apprehend the remaining accused, and recover the remaining stolen property,” the police said in a communication.

The case pertains to an alleged incident on September 17, 2026, when a five-member gang robbed seven migrant workers, including three women, of ₹1,20,000 in cash, 10 mobile phones worth approximately ₹3,05,000, gold ornaments, and other valuables. The mobile phones and a portion of the stolen money have been recovered from the accused, the police said. The accused reportedly disrobed the victims while searching for ornaments.
