Alligator, golden gun and 42kg of fentanyl found in raid of luxury LA apartment

Federal agents have arrested a pair of suspects after 42 kilograms of fentanyl, a golden gun and a small alligator were found at a luxury apartment in downtown Los Angeles last week.

Marvin Angelito, 27, and Susan Gonzalez, 26, were arrested last Thursday — the same day agents raided their apartment, which federal prosecutors called a “known drug trafficking location.”

While executing a search warrant for the alleged stash house, agents found about 42.6 kilograms of fentanyl pills and powder, one kilogram of heroin and 7.2 kilograms of cocaine, the Justice Department announced Tuesday.

Agents also found guns, including a gold-plated Desert Eagle .50-caliber pistol with ammunition on the kitchen counter, and a small alligator in a glass tank with water, according to prosecutors.

The alligator was seized by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Independent has reached out to the agency for comment on the gator’s condition.

Lab equipment, including beakers, mixers, stirrers and torches, was also seized in the search, as was a hydraulic press, an AR-15 rifle with ammunition found in a hallway closet and a police radio, according to prosecutors.

Agents found the Olympic + Hill apartment building that the duo was living in through a confidential source who arranged to pay $125,000 for 500,000 fentanyl pills from an alleged drug trafficker, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing a criminal complaint charging Angelito and Gonzalez and an attached affidavit.

Angelito and Gonzalez were charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Both face a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted.

They both made their initial court appearances Monday, when U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen L. Stevenson ordered Angelito to remain detained and Gonzalez to be released on a $15,000 bond. No pleas were taken Monday.

Angelito’s arraignment is scheduled for October 2 and Gonzalez’s arraignment is scheduled for October 9.
