The State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department is hiring 305 people, the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) notification, dated Wednesday (September 16, 2026) and made public on Friday (September 18, 2026), said. It covers 147 driver operator posts, days after 158 fireman posts were notified along with 827 police constables and 171 prison warders.
Applications for all of them will be taken only on the Board’s website, https://slprb.ap.gov.in. The dates for applying and for the preliminary test will be announced shortly, the Board said in a release. What follows are the conditions for the fireman posts; the Board has not yet published those for driver operators.
Firemen must be men; they must have passed Intermediate as on July 1, 2026, or, if they are SC or ST, passed SSC and appeared for both years of Intermediate. They must have been born between July 2, 1994 and July 1, 2008, which is 18 to 32 years old, with five more years allowed for EWS, BC (non-creamy layer), SC and ST candidates. The fee is ₹300, or ₹150 for SC and ST candidates. The Board does not check age when the form is filled, so an over-age applicant loses the fee.
A 200-mark preliminary test in English, Telugu or Urdu needs 40% to pass for OC and EWS candidates, 35% for BC and 30% for SC and ST. Those who clear it must stand 167.6 cm tall and measure 86.3 cm round the chest with 5 cm expansion. Then a physical test: 1,600 metres in eight minutes, and either 100 metres in 15 seconds or a long jump of 3.80 metres. A 200-mark final examination decides the merit list, and after the first 5% of posts are filled by open competition the rest go to local candidates. Home Guards get 10% of the posts, ex-servicemen 2%. Pay after training is between ₹25,220 to ₹80,910 a month.
NTR district has 20 of the fireman vacancies and Visakhapatnam city 18; East Godavari, Kakinada, Krishna and Guntur have 10 each.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on August 14 launched 58 fire-fighting vehicles bought for about ₹40 crore, among them 20 water bowsers of 14,000 litres each, and said 17 new fire stations were being built and 36 modernised.
