Armed Student Group Causes Clash and Traffic Jam in Kalibata South Jakarta, Police Investigate

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A group of students got into a fight that caused traffic congestion under the Kalibata City flyover in Pancoran, South Jakarta.

According to a video circulating on social media, the group appeared to be in school uniforms while carrying sharp weapons such as long sickles.

AKP Joko Adi Wibowo, Public Relations Officer of the South Jakarta Metro Police, explained that the fight occurred on Thursday night (17/9/2026).

Officers immediately went to the location after receiving reports from residents.

"After arriving at the site and investigating the Kalibata City flyover and surrounding areas down to the Aqua underpass on the border between Pancoran and Cililitan, no such group of students was found," Joko said when confirmed by Kompas.com via text message on Sunday (20/9/2026).

According to local residents, the group had already turned back toward the Cililitan area in East Jakarta.

There has been no report from residents about injuries resulting from the incident.

The police are still investigating the groups involved in the conflict.

"So we are still tracing this, gathering information and reviewing CCTV footage to understand what this group was doing," Joko added.

Additionally, police are taking preventive measures by stationing officers at the location.

A similar approach had previously been implemented near the Manggarai Station underpass in Tebet, another area prone to fights among residents.

"Following this viral incident and to prevent similar occurrences, officers have been deployed at the site to maintain safety and order," Joko said.
