The two distribution utilities in Telangana -- Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) and Northern Discom (TGNPDCL) -- have made all arrangements to provide free electricity supply to Ganesh pandals in the State, following the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Chairman and Managing Director of the TGSPDCL, Jitesh V. Patil, on Sunday visited the Khairatabad and Balapur pandals and reviewed the arrangements for uninterrupted power supply with all safety measures throughout the festival. He interacted with the Ganesh Utsav Committee and enquired about the power supply arrangements, back-up systems and emergency response mechanism. He stated that the entire infrastructure would be monitored round-the-clock from the time of installation of the idol till the final immersion procession.
Later, he visited the Balapur Ganesh Pandal and reviewed the arrangements there. He stated that an officer would be designated for each Ganesh pandal for round-the-clock monitoring. He appealed to the organisers not to resort to direct hooking from electricity lines as it was highly dangerous.
