Asian Games: cool, calm Wong says winning gold akin to ‘unlocking an achievement’ - South China Morning Post

The Hongkonger needed just one chance to wrap up a straight sets victory over China’s Wu Yibing, and for all the world looked as though he was just firing down aces on the practice court, and not on the verge of doing something no man from the city had ever done before.
Just to add to the occasion, victory came with a place at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, as long as Wong remains in the top 500 players in the world. The manner of his 6-2, 6-4 triumph at Higashiyama Park Tennis Centre would suggest it is the 99 above him who should have cause for concern.
“Obviously I was a little bit nervous because I’ve never been to this stage before, but it was tough,” Wong said. “The whole match was really close.”
