Asian Games, Sep 29 schedule: Shooting, athletics lead India's medal hopes

September 29 could be one of India's biggest medal days yet at the Asian Games, with medal opportunities spread across shooting, surfing, kurash, cycling and athletics.

The action begins early at the shooting range, where India has two team medal events at 6:30 AM. Kynan Chenai, Ahvar Rizvi and Shapath Bharadwaj will contest the men's trap team final, while Neeru, Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat will line up in the women's trap team final.

The shooting medal rush does not end there. The women's trap individual final at 10:30 AM features Neeru, Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat, before Kynan, Ahvar and Shapath return for the men's individual final at noon. That gives India several chances to add to its medal tally.

There could be more medals in surfing, with Anbarasu Kishore Kumar scheduled for the bronze and gold medal matches if he makes it through the earlier rounds. Vipin Kumar is also on a potential medal path in the men's -66kg kurash event, with his semifinal and final scheduled later in the day.

Cycling then takes centre stage, with the women's and men's team sprint medal finals scheduled around lunchtime. And then comes the evening athletics session, packed with medal events.

India will have athletes in men's pole vault, women's high jump, women's hammer throw, women's and men's 800m, and men's 5000m, before three relay finals bring the athletics programme to a close: mixed 4x100m, women's 4x400m and men's 4x400m.
