ASR Collector reviews ‘Trishul’ strategy against crime in district

ASR District Collector T. Nishanthi on Monday directed officials to strengthen coordinated action against drug abuse, ganja cultivation, crimes against women and road accidents, at a district-level National Centre for Coordination of Drug Law Enforcement (NCORD) meeting held at the Collectorate in Paderu.
The meeting, chaired by Ms. Nishanthi, reviewed the State government’s “Trishul” strategy, built around three objectives – zero drugs, zero tolerance towards atrocities against women, and zero road accidents.
District Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar said the “Chaitanyam” programme, under which villages adopt resolutions against ganja cultivation, was being emulated by neighbouring ganja-prone areas.
Officials said Cordon and Search Operations had covered 147 villages, with 82 previous offenders counselled and a ten-member special task force constituted. Action under the PIT-NDPS Act had led to 15 detention orders among 32 persons identified, besides 586 suspect sheets being opened. Drone and human verification at 92 locations across five mandals found no fresh ganja cultivation.
The meeting also reviewed the “Sankalpam” awareness initiative in schools and colleges, monitoring of harassment against women on social media, identification of accident black spots, and implementation of PM RAHAT for cashless treatment of road accident victims.
