At 23, Globacom is Redefining Superior Service - THISDAYLIVE
Recently, Nigeria’s telecomm- unications giant, Globacom, underscored and renewed its enduring bond with its subscribers, reaffirming its commitment to delivering superior data services, a more efficient network, and a continuous suite of innovative solutions designed to enhance customer experience.
Globacom’s renewed commitment to its customer-centric philosophy and deepening of bond with the subscribers came on the back of a recent National Communications Commission’s (NCC) report which revealed that Globacom emerged as the country’s fastest-growing Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the month of May 2026, recording the highest net addition of internet subscribers among the nation’s major mobile network operators.
The NCC data revealed that Nigeria’s internet subscriber base rose from approximately 154.3 million in April to about 157 million in May 2026, representing a net increase of 2.67 million subscribers within the month.
Out of the 2.67 million aggregate Industry growth, Globacom contributed nearly half, expanding its internet subscriber base by about 1.3 million subscribers. The achievement further reinforces the company’s renewed competitive momentum within Nigeria’s dynamic telecommunications landscape. Airtel Nigeria posted the second-highest growth, adding approximately 1.07 million, while MTN Nigeria recorded an increase of 382,894 subscribers during the period.
While the telecoms market is awash with generic products and services, Globacom has long been known for its “first of its kind” trail blazing offerings with high utility value and unequaled user experience. The Glo offerings, without exemptions, all have revolutionary impact and uncommon value for its teeming subscribers.
In line with its tradition, antecedents and history of product innovation, Globacom unveiled four new products which are novel and revolutionary in impact during its recent 23rd anniversary celebration. The latest offerings further reinforce and solidify the company’s reputation as a house of innovation and creativity. The new trail blazing products are the Glo Cafe 3.0, the enhanced version of “Glo Talkmasta 6×6”, “Welcome Bonus”, and the “Magic Bundle”
Glo Cafe 3.0 is a greatly upgraded version of its digital self-service platform that puts convenience, control and an enhanced customer experience directly in the hands of its subscribers. It makes service access easier, faster and more convenient while elevating the overall customer experience.
Unveiled as part of the company’s 23rd-anniversary “Never Settle For Less” campaign, Glo Café 3.0 goes beyond an application upgrade to create a digital ecosystem where connectivity, convenience, entertainment, customer care and value converge in one intuitive environment.
With a vibrant, youthful and customer-friendly interface, the platform simplifies the subscriber journey, enabling customers to access key services in as few as three clicks. These include purchasing airtime and data, borrowing credit and data, sharing and gifting data, managing subscriptions, using data calculators and settling postpaid bills. Payment options include cards, transfers, USSD and other channels through the Paystack gateway, alongside transaction histories, notifications and search functions.
A major innovation is Gloria, Glo’s AI-powered voice and text assistant, which responds to customer enquiries and facilitates access to relevant offers. Its multilingual capability across English, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, French and Spanish adds an intelligent and inclusive dimension to the experience.
The platform also extends beyond conventional telecoms self-service, incorporating radio, videos, games and the Glo Heritage Series, with partnerships involving Domino’s, AudioMark and Boomplay further enriching the digital experience.
The application’s value proposition is equally compelling. First-time users who download and register receive 75GB bonus data instantly, followed by 5GB monthly for five months, potentially delivering 100GB in total. Customers also receive 100 per cent bonus on every recharge made through Glo Café, while data purchases from N100 to N20,000 attract an additional 10 per cent data. Further value comes through exclusive Café Special Data Bundles available at N200, N300, N500 and N2,000.
Similarly, the widely popular Glo Talkmasta “6 for 6” has been reloaded with more benefits to make customers happier for making calls on the network. Hitherto, the product gave subscribers six free call minutes and 50 MB data for every 6 minutes of talk. Now, apart from getting the free 6 minutes, they also get FREE 100MB (50 MB More) of data
This offer is unprecedented in the Nigerian telecoms space, providing the best-value tariff plan for customers in Nigeria and reinforces Glo as the network that gives more talk time plus Free Data, on every six minutes of use.
Glo has also enhanced its existing Welcome Bonus Offer, as it now rewards every new customer who purchases and activates a Glo SIM with benefits worth N2,100. These include 20 minutes of calls to all networks, 2GB free data and a free 1-month GloTv Premium subscription.
A first-of-its-kind telecom product in Nigeria was also unveiled by the company. Called Magic Data Bundle, it is a new data proposition that ensures every qualifying bundle purchase includes a guaranteed data allocation together with an automatic Magic Bonus Data allocation. This ensures that customers always receive the guaranteed bundle and receive additional bonus data.
The bonus amount, however, varies according to the predefined bonus allocation matrix.
“The Magic Bonus Data transforms data subscription into a rewarding experience because customers know they will always receive the guaranteed data purchased while also anticipating an additional Magic Bonus. The product is offered at 2 price points – N1600 & N 3500. Customers receive between 500 MB and 12GB magic bonuses on different Magic Data Bundles. Glo current and prospective customers can buy magic bundles through Glo Café App or by dialling *312#.
The product launch also came with a twin event which is equally significant in the company’s crusade for the very best for the Nigerian people. At the August event, Globacom launched the “Never Settle for Less” campaign, a corporate national advocacy campaign urging Nigerians to go for what gives them satisfaction, fulfilment, and joy in all their endeavours.
The theme of the campaign explores and reflects the “never-say-die” mentality of the typical Nigerian of resilience, perseverance, deternation to succeed, and never quitting the struggles, even in the face of great odds. Essentially, the company’s advocacy for uncompromising alignment with and attachment to quality, value, and unique customer experience, goes to the heart of the saying that there is no substitute for excellence and quality. It is an awareness creation and sensitisation campaign for consumers to go for the best – what gives them satisfaction and meets their needs.
To round off the anniversary celebrations, staff of the company gathered at The Stable, Surulere, Lagos, to participate in some sporting activities. Tagged “Glo Fitfest 2026”, the event brought employees together for a day of games, bonding and fun, as they took a well-deserved break to celebrate Globacom’s more than two decades of growth and impact.
Games featured at the colourful event included table tennis, Big Ludo, Big Snooker, Beer Pong, Sack Race, Big Ayo and a football competition involving various departments of the organisation. The departments were grouped into clusters, adding a strong team spirit to the friendly but competitive contests.
