Atlantis murders: Police hunt men who could help with probe - IOL

Police in Atlantis seek assistance in tracing these men who may be of assistance to them in their murder investigations.

Police in Atlantis, Western Cape, are urging anyone who may know the men depicted to contact them urgently. 

Detectives in Atlantis believe these men could assist them with their investigation in two separate murder cases where victims were shot in Witsand. 

The provincial police spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk, confirmed the shooting incidents took place on separate dates. 

“Police responded to a shooting incident in Nqanqarhu, Witsand, Atlantis on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at approximately 12.25pm, where they found an unknown male person with a fatal gunshot wound. In another incident, a male victim was declared deceased at Chris Hani Street, Witsand, Atlantis, after a fatal shooting on Tuesday, September 22,” van Wyk said. 

Police urge anyone with information to come forward. 

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Roderick Maasdorp, at 082 469 7017 or investigating officer Detective Eldridge McKenzie at 082 469 7017; alternatively, contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111.

In an unrelated incident, a 30-year-old man was arrested in Voorbrug, Delft on Friday, September 25, during an integrated operation by members of the Delft SAPS and the City’s LEAP officers. 

“Acting on information about drugs being sold in Fairhaven Road, members swiftly followed up and conducted a search at the identified premises. The members recovered a CZ 9mm firearm without a serial number and approximately 500 mandrax tablets, with an estimated street value of R20,000,” van Wyk said. 

The suspect is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of an illegal firearm and possession of drugs.
