(Photo: ที่นี่.อำเภออุทัย Facebook page) PHRA NAKHON SI AYUTTHAYA - Officials raided a popular nightclub in Uthai district early on Sunday after complaints it remained open after hours and customers were using illegal drugs. Twenty people tested positive for drug use. 

About 40 district officials, police and territorial defence volunteers were involved in the 2.30am raid, according to media reports that did not identify the pub other than saying it was in tambon Khan Harm.

Officers sealed all three entrances and exits before searching the premises, holding back patrons who attempted to leave. 

The search found dscarded drugs, especially in the toilets -   ketamine, crystal meth and methamphetamine pills, along with paraphenalia including used plastic bags and straws. 

One patron was detained for alleged possession of a small bag of ketamine. 

Uthai district chief Papanasak Khantichaimongkol said authorities had monitored the venue and conducted undercover operations after receiving complaints. They uncovered evidence of drug sales and operating beyond legal closing hours.

Nearly 200 patrons underwent identity checks and urine tests, which took about two hours. Twenty tested positive for drug use - 11 men and nine women. They were handed over to Uthai police for legal action.

No underage customers were found inside the venue. 

Mr Papanasak said the venue owner and related parties were being summoned for questioning. He released no names.

The district chief said the Ayutthaya governor would decide what action follows. The pub faces possible closure for up to five years if legal requirements are not met, he said.
