Batang Health Office Offers Free Medical Treatment for Residents Suspected of PMT Posyandu Poisoning
BATANG, KOMPAS.com - The Batang Regency Health Office (Dinkes) has waived medical treatment fees for residents suspected of poisoning after consuming Supplementary Food (PMT) during a Posyandu activity in Rowobelang Village.
In addition to providing medical treatment, health workers have been visiting residentsβ homes to monitor their conditions.
Ida Susilaksmi, Head of Batang Health Office, stated that residents who have improved and been declared fit for outpatient care continue to be monitored by health personnel.
"Outpatient care, yes. But our staff are still going door-to-door. We pray that everyone remains safe," Ida told reporters on Tuesday (22/9/2026).
According to Ida, this measure is part of managing the suspected poisoning case that occurred following the Posyandu event.
She assured that the medical handling for the affected residents is free of charge.
"In principle, the management of this suspected poisoning case is provided free of charge," Ida said.
Previously, dozens of residents in Rowobelang experienced symptoms of illness after consuming PMT during the Posyandu activity on Monday (21/9/2026). Symptoms included vomiting and diarrhea.
The Batang Health Office has taken food samples for laboratory testing to determine the exact cause of the symptoms among residents.
According to preliminary data, 42 people reportedly consumed the food.
Of those, 37 exhibited symptoms, while five did not show any symptoms.
As of Tuesday afternoon, two residents were hospitalized, and nine were still under observation in the emergency room.
Other residents have been allowed to receive outpatient care.
The Batang Health Office is awaiting laboratory results and continues monitoring the residents' conditions.
The cause of the symptoms cannot be confirmed until the sample test results are available.
