Belagavi-based industrialists were among those who inaugurated the Technology Business Incubator at Visvesvaraya Technological University in Belagavi on Sunday (September 27).

The incubator, established by the Visvesvaraya Research and Innovation Foundation (VRIF) in collaboration with the State government’s K-Tech organisation will help strengthen the start-up ecosystem at VTU, Vice-Chancellor and VRIF president S. Vidyashankar said.

“Its objective is to provide a platform for innovators to nurture their novel ideas, develop technology-based solutions, and transform them into sustainable enterprises. With the inclusion of start-ups, VTU-VRIF will uphold its commitment to bridging academic knowledge with industry, fostering innovation, nurturing entrepreneurial potential, and building a vibrant start-up ecosystem,’’ he said.

VRIF CEO Santosh Ittanagi said that the objective was to foster research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration between industry and academic institutions. “Through its incubation initiatives, VRIF supports innovators and emerging start-ups throughout their journey — from the initial idea stage to the establishment of a business. Ten start-up companies, spanning sectors such as healthcare, education, language, and fashion, are setting up operations at this campus,’’ he said.

Prasad B. Rampure, registrar, U.J. Ujwal, registrar (evaluation), Venkatesh Patil, member, VRIF State Evaluation and Advisory Committee, Industrialist Neha Revankarand, executive board members Dilip Krishna and Sunny Raj, among others, were present.
