Ben Johnson sounds off on Bears' QB decision for Week 4 vs. Jets - Bears Wire

The Chicago Bears pulled off a big win on Monday Night Football, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-7, with 38-year old veteran Case Keenum at quarterback.

Chicago were the betting underdogs coming into the game as they turned to the third quarterback on their depth chart, and now begins the conversation on who the Bears will start in Week 4 against the New York Jets.

Following the win on Monday night over Philadelphia, head coach Ben Johnson was asked about what the team will do at the quarterback position, whether they'll ride Keenum or opt to turn to Tyson Bagent. Although he cleared concussion protocol over the weekend, Johnson decided to give Bagent the week off and ride with Keenum, which ultimately paid off in a major way.

"We'll have a discussion as a coaching staff and we'll see where we need to go from here," Johnson said, "but I said it last week and I'll say it again: There was a reason why Tyson ended training camp as our No. 2 quarterback."

It certainly feels as if the coaching staff will have plenty to discuss heading into the Week 4 matchup against the New York Jets, but Keenum's performance on Monday night should give more reason for debate. Keenum led the Bears to a win in his first game in 1,009 days, while throwing for two touchdowns and adding one on the ground in what will certainly be one of the most memorable games in his career.

The joy of Monday night will last early into the week, but Johnson and his staff have a decision to make as they welcome the Jets to Chicago on Sunday.
