Following the incident, a team of the Punjab Police reached the spot to examine the scene. Police are yet to ascertain what caused the explosion, and the investigation is underway.

Speaking about the explosion, senior cop Satinder Kumar said the forensic team was examining the matter and that details would be shared once the investigation establishes what happened.

“There was a sound of an explosion at 2 o'clock in the night. Forensic has been investigating the matter. Whatever comes in it, we will share it. The window panes of 4–5 cars are shattered,” Satinder Kumar said.

Kumar said that the gates of the police station were closed at the time, making it unlikely that someone had entered from outside. Police have appealed to people not to fall prey to rumours while the investigation is underway.

He also said the incident falls under the jurisdiction of Jalalabad police station and that CCTV footage from the area was being examined.
