Both the Jays and Guardians lose so Toronto remains a game behind Cleveland for last AL wild card.

Braydon Fisher will be the Jays opening pitcher against the Tigers on Tuesday. 

The Blue Jays missed an opportunity to move into a tie for the third and final playoff spot in the American League on Monday, blowing 2-0 and 5-4 leads to the Detroit Tigers to remain one game behind the Cleveland Guardians, who lost for the fourth time in seven games.

The Guardians remain the only team in the race with a winning record, though barely, as several flawed teams vying for that last post-season berth entered the season’s final fortnight.

Braydon Fisher will serve as the opener for Toronto on Tuesday in a bullpen game in which Michael Lorenzen is expected to get the bulk of the work.

The Tigers will counter with right-hander Drew Anderson, who made his return to MLB this season after spending four years pitching in the Far East.

Anderson has a 2.97 ERA since moving into the starting rotation for good on Aug. 5 but has yet to record a win.
