A businessman arrested in connection with a R16 million fraud case involving an Emfuleni municipal fleet tender will spend the next week behind bars.
Forty-year-old Mpho Malema appeared briefly in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court on Monday morning.
He was arrested last Thursday by the Gauteng Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
Malema’s company was awarded the tender in 2022 to supply Emfuleni Local Municipality with 18 vehicles, but the police said only seven vehicles were delivered, leaving 11 unaccounted for.
