CAF reverses Edo Queens WAFU B victory - Punch Newspapers

The Confederation of African Football has made another boardroom decision, annulling Edo Queens victory over Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifying final following the Ghanaian side’s protest.

Ampem Darkoa had protested the decision to proceed directly to penalties after the final ended 2-2 in Ouagadougou on September 5, arguing that 30 minutes of extra time should have been played in line with the CAF WAFU-B Regulations.

Edo Queens went on to win 4-1 on penalties to claim the title and qualification for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.

CAF determined that the final did not comply with the competition regulations because extra time was not played. Article 72.4 requires two 15-minute periods of extra time when the final is level after 90 minutes, with penalties only used if the scores remain level.

The ruling means Edo Queens’ shootout victory no longer stands, with the final set to resume from the 2-2 scoreline.

Both teams will play two 15-minute periods of extra time, with penalties to decide the winner if they remain level after the additional 30 minutes.

The eventual winner will take the zone’s qualification place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
