BROSSARD - The Montreal Canadiens have signed a four-year contract extension with forward Alex Newhook, the NHL team announced Tuesday.
The deal carries an average annual value of US$5.55 million and begins in the 2027-28 season.
Newhook recorded 13 goals and 12 assists in 42 games with the Canadiens last season, including two power-play goals and two game-winning goals.
The 25-year-old then had 10 points in 19 games, and scored the series-clinching goal in both of Montrealβs Game 7 victories, during the teamβs run to the Eastern Conference final in the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs.
The forward from St. Johnβs, N.L., has registered 151 points, including 70 goals, in 338 career NHL games with the Colorado Avalanche and the Canadiens since making his league debut in 2020-21.
Newhook was selected 16th overall by Colorado at the 2019 NHL draft and won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022.
