Popular Cape Town deejay Ready D has pulled the plug on his short-lived political career.

Deon Daniels was making a play for the Cape Town mayoral chain under the banner of the People’s Movement for Change (PMC), which is yet to crack open the door of the city council.

One of several cultural figures in the city to vie for political office in the upcoming municipal polls, Daniels has backtracked on the decision, saying he’s not yet done scratching the turntables.

Daniels broke onto the South African musical scene in the late 80s with the hip-hop outfit Prophets of da City.

He surprised many when he recently announced his political ambitions and that he was gunning straight for the top office.

However, in an about-turn, Daniels said the timing has not been right.
