CBS NFL announcing schedule provides latest Tony Romo return update - USA Today
CBS Sports revealed on Monday its broadcast teams for Weeks 2 and 3 of the 2026 NFL season, with Tony Romo not on the schedule to call games with Jim Nantz.
J.J. Watt will continue to fill in for Romo with Nantz for CBS' top broadcasting team, further casting doubt on whether or not Romo will return to the network following his OWI arrest this summer.
While CBS and Romo haven't formally parted ways, Watt performing well in the booth could convince CBS to keep him there for the time being.
It's hard to read this situation as anything other than Romo's future being in jeopardy with the network, even if we don't have any official word of him being out of his top role with Nantz.
We'll see what's next for Romo and CBS in the weeks to come, but he won't be back through at least Week 3.
