Clash erupts between students of Ideal College and Dhaka College

Students of Ideal College and Dhaka College have clashed in the capital, with the two sides chasing and counter-chasing each other.

The incident took place around 12:15pm on Sunday near the Green Road entrance by Science Lab.

Traffic flow on several roads around the Science Lab intersection faced disruptions during the clash.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s New Market Zone Additional Deputy Commissioner Shawkat Ali told bdnews24.com at 12:46pm: No injuries have been reported so far. Traffic movement on the roads is normal.”

When asked about the cause, the police officer said: “There does not seem to be any particular reason for clashes or chases between students of these two colleges. They have been involved in such incidents in the past as well, without any specific reason being found.”

A student from Ideal College said, “Students of Dhaka College suddenly attacked us. I don’t know why they did it. Several students from our college were injured. Some suffered head injuries.”

“We are new students. We were on our way home when they suddenly attacked us. We are concerned about our safety,” he added.

Students of the two colleges had earlier clashed near Science Lab on Nov 9, after which they agreed to prevent further violence.

Despite that, tensions flared again between the two sides on Sunday.
