CM approves medical college for Mianwali

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered timely completion of health projects across the province. Chairing a meeting, she approved the establishment of a Maryam Nawaz Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Mianwali and Kulsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan. The meeting was informed that a 268-bed institute of cardiology would be established in Gujranwala. A report on a medical college project in Layyah was also presented. The chief minister directed authorities to take all necessary measures for the early completion of health projects in different cities. A detailed briefing was given on various health projects during the meeting, including the Nawaz Sharif Medical District, Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research Centre, and Sargodha cardiology projects. According to the briefing, the Nawaz Sharif Medical District would have institutes of infection, diseases, plastic surgery, genetic, surgical and orthopedic medicine. The Children's Hospital-II and an Institute of Ophthalmology would also be established there. The Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital and a 100-bed General Hospital would also be established in the medical district. It was also revealed in a briefing that at least 7.824 million patients had been treated so far at the rural health centres converted into MN Hospitals. Over 50,000 successful major surgeries were performed in the facilities for the first time. The rural hospitals provide facilities for diagnostic tests, enabling residents of remote areas to access essential healthcare services closer to home.
