The vast majority of Brazilians are – in some way – impacted by what we do and our recognition of this makes us constantly aware of our enormous responsibility. This is precisely why we produce content for different platforms, with the majority being distributed free-of-charge.

The vast majority of Brazilians are – in some way – impacted by what we do and our recognition of this makes us constantly aware of our enormous responsibility. This is precisely why we produce content for different platforms, with the majority being distributed free-of-charge.

In Globo’s journalism, we aim to provide access to essential, reliable and quality information. We stay true to our commitment to produce material and guarantee responsible factual coverage of news that addresses social and environmental issues broadcast on every screen. The system we have developed to monitor issues is able to identify how many times each topic is reported on our news shows and general programs. The issues reported always include the rights and issues facing the LGBTQIA+, disabled, Black and Indigenous communities, as well as the fight against hunger, poverty and femicide.

In 2023, we expanded our vision to include the monitoring of 'Globo Repórter' and Brasil TV. We expect to be able to automate the monitoring of the digital platforms in 2024. As a consequence, the expansion and constant monitoring of these issues has resulted in an increase of 17,709 in the number of minutes, compared to 2022.

In Sports, our team began developing specific targets to promote and measure the minutes of content produced in relation to ESG themes. As of 2024, with well drafted objectives and firmly implemented tools, the number of minutes and publications on the sports platforms that debate social and environmental issues will also be calculated.

This year, women’s soccer occupied an enormous amount of space in the transmission and coverage provided on broadcast, subscription and digital TV. The expansion of our portfolio to include women’s events contributes to our strategy of working to break down prejudice in sport. In addition to sports rights, our content reflected our commitment. One of the year’s highlights was the series of reports on 'Esporte Espetacular' with Ágatha, a beach volleyball player who worked to combine maternity with the pursuit of her dream of competing in the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. The men’s and women’s ‘Taça das Favelas 2023’ (‘2023 Favelas Cup’) soccer championship also continued to occupy space with the aim of contributing to the visibility of socially relevant events.

In 2023, we made a number of changes at the Globo Studios, with the creation of the light entertainment and humor genres, led by women and the film center, as well as important adjustments in the management of the festivals and events department.

This process ensures that our eye is kept even more firmly on the future, further recognizing the power of brazilian stories which recognize and appreciate our local talents, with diversity and gender equity of those in charge playing a vital role in guiding our choices.

Amongst many important initiatives of the Globo Studios’ Diversity and Innovation in Content Department has been the creation of the Diversity and Innovation HUB. Initially structured to assist in the development of Big Brother Brazil, it expanded in 2023, overseeing a total of 56 productions, involving more than 400 hours of consultation. In practice, the creative leaders are now able to take advantage of the ethical guidance and expert support provided by a team of consultants specialized in a wide range of social conflicts, in line with Globo’s institutional guidelines.

Advertising, together with our content, is a key part of our business and is included in all our platforms. We provided visibility to the causes and actions of important organizations operating in society. In 2023, we granted BRL 267 million in media time to social campaigns and broadcast the equivalent of BRL 524 million as part of Globo’s own social campaigns.

Our programming is also notable for platforms and institutional campaigns that raise awareness and stimulate the social engagement of our audience.
