CPI alleges vote deletions in A.P. SIR

Communist Party of India (CPI) Andhra Pradesh State secretariat member J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy on Tuesday alleged that lakhs of votes had been deleted in the State in the name of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Addressing a district committee meeting at the party office in Allipuram, Visakhapatnam, he alleged that the BJP-led Union government was seeking to retain power by manipulating electoral rolls.

Mr. Murthy also questioned the Centre’s reported GDP estimate of 7.8%, citing remarks he attributed to former finance secretary Subhash Chandra Garg and former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.

He referred to a recent CAG report, which he said had flagged irregularities in expenditure by Union ministries. He urged party workers to prepare for the local body elections.
