V. Shanthakumaran Nair (89), father of former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth, passed away at a private hospital in Kochi due to cardiac complications on Friday (September 11, 2026) around 10 p.m. A patient with a history of cardiac ailments, he had been admitted to the hospital a few days earlier.

The body will be taken to the family’s ancestral home in Kothamangalam on Sunday (September 13, 2026). It will be kept for public homage from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by the funeral at 4 p.m.

The deceased is survived by his wife Savithri Devi and children Deepu Santh, Niveditha, Diva, and Sreesanth.
