Search teams recovered eight more bodies from an avalanche site at the base camp of Mount Himlung in Nepal's Manang district on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 15, an official said.

Two of the recovered bodies were airlifted to the district hospital in Chame, while six were transported to Phu village in the district.

"Of the 16 people missing in the disaster, 15 bodies have been recovered as of Thursday. Although all the belongings of the last missing person have been found, he is yet to be traced," said Krishna Prasad Paudel, assistant chief district officer.

The 16 people, including mountain guides and kitchen staff from two expedition companies, were at the base camp of the 7,126-meter peak to prepare camps and fix ropes when the avalanche struck early Sunday morning.

Paudel said the search for the last missing person would continue on Friday.
