Delhi plans new Rs 128-crore DTC headquarters with parking for 200 buses
The Delhi government is constructing a new 11-storeyed headquarters for the Delhi Transport Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs 128.23 crore, officials said on Friday.
The building will come up at the existing DTC headquarters site at the IP Estate Bus Depot and will replace the old office, which officials said has become structurally outdated and inadequate for the operational needs of Delhi's expanding transport network. The project is expected to be completed over two years after the work is awarded.
The new headquarters will have two basements, a ground floor and 11 storeys. Last December, DTC signed an agreement with the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation for the construction of the building, and the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has now issued a tender inviting construction agencies for the project, officials said.
According to the tender document, the new building will be spread over 26,000 square metres and will replace the old headquarters. Of this, the operational area will be 12,234 square metres, while the building itself will be located on 6,158 square metres.
The plan also includes a green area of 9,681.71 square metres, which officials said is 20 per cent of the total land, ensuring an "environmentally-conscious and future-ready campus".
Under the MoU, 50 per cent of the commercial usage rights will remain with the DSIIDC for 30 years. The new complex will have parking space for 200 buses and more than 200 cars in the basement. It will also include firefighting systems, an audio-visual system, access control, a CCTV network, lifts, and high side and low side HVAC systems.
In sum, the project involves replacing DTC's existing headquarters at IP Estate with a new multi-storeyed complex with office space, parking, green area and support systems, with construction estimated at Rs 128.23 crore and a two-year timeline after the award of work.- Ends
