Deepak Bangar, a Delhi Police constable who was posted with the Foreigners Cell at North West District, has been suspended for posting videos on social media displaying a firearm, while he was on duty at the recently concluded 18th BRICS summit.

Mr. Bangar was posted at one of the hotels as part of the security arrangements for the two-day summit held in the national capital.

As foreign dignitaries descended into New Delhi from September 11, 2026 to September 13, 2026, the city was under heavy security, with around 15,000 Delhi Police personnel, 200 companies of paramilitary forces and more than 500 CCTV cameras.

Several videos, now circulating on social media, show Mr. Bangar posing with firearms, on what appears to be a high-rise rooftop. These videos have drawn criticism from netizens, and a departmental enquiry is now under way.
