Demonstration in Jakarta, Train Passengers Asked to Arrive Earlier at Gambir Station

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has advised prospective train passengers departing from Gambir Station to arrive earlier on Thursday (24/9/2026).

This advisory aims to anticipate traffic congestion heading to Gambir Station due to a demonstration taking place around Monas.

"Train passengers are encouraged to come to the station earlier to catch their trains according to the schedule printed on their tickets," wrote PT KAI's 121 Contact Center to Kompas.com on Wednesday (23/9/2026).

PT KAI also directed passengers seeking further information to contact the help center via the Access by KAI application.

"For detailed information, please reach us at the help center within the Access by KAI app," the statement added.

It is noted that labor groups will hold a peaceful rally on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman through MH Thamrin in Central Jakarta.

The action is planned to start from the Semanggi area with a motorcycle convoy heading to the front of the UOB Tower on Jalan MH Thamrin.

In addition to the peaceful demonstration, representatives of the Indonesian Workers' Grand Struggle Coalition (KBPBI) will deliver a petition to the Presidential Chief of Staff at the State Palace.

"At 9:00 a.m. WIB, labor leaders will lead the mass action directly, and others will send a petition letter to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto," said Andi.

Metro Jaya Police Traffic Director Kombes Pol Firman Darmansyah said that traffic management measures will be implemented situationally to anticipate congestion caused by the demonstration.

"Traffic diversions will be applied as needed based on conditions on the ground," Firman said in a written statement on Wednesday.

Firman urged the public to avoid several roads that are likely to experience heavy traffic, including Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Gatot Subroto near the DPR/MPR RI complex, and the National Monument (Monas) area.

Those without business near the demonstration area were also encouraged to use alternative routes.

"We urge the public who do not have activities around the demonstration location to consider alternative routes to ensure comfortable and smooth travel," Firman said.
