DG Health offers tostep down amidappointment row

Newly appointed Director General Health Services Sindh Hyderabad Shahriyar Gul Memon has asked the Sindh Services, General Administration and Coordination Department to relieve him of the post, citing what he described as personal remarks questioning his academic and professional credentials and appointments. Memon, who was previously serving as Special Secretary Health Sindh, was given charge of DG Health Services Hyderabad after the Health Department withdrew his additional charge as Special Secretary. His appointment had subsequently drawn criticism and objections from several doctors' organisations, particularly the Pakistan Medical Association Sindh. In a letter to the Secretary SGA&CD, Memon said that throughout his civil-service career he had sought to perform his duties with integrity, sincerity and full adherence to administrative rules.
