In every game this season, rookie safety Dillon Thieneman has led the Chicago Bears in tackles and their 23-12 win against the New York Jets in Week 4 was no exception.

Thieneman had seven total tackles, although this was his first game without a solo tackle. That is probably more attributable to the fact that Chicago’s defense was all over the place and this was a true team effort for the Bears.

It also helped that they were not on the field that often as New York only possessed the ball for 17 minutes and 15 seconds. That was the least amount of time an opponent possessed the ball against Chicago since defeating the Detroit Lions in November of 1994.

“Yeah, it felt a little weird just kind of chilling on the sideline for a lot of it,” Thieneman said. “End of the game, I’m always staying ready, but they were able to get that first down and kind of seal it out there.”

The Bears will look to have another dominant defensive performance in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers, who are coming off a 17-14 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who started an undrafted rookie quarterback. Chicago has won two out of three of their games against Green Bay since Ben Johnson took over as the head coach, including their 18-point comeback victory in the playoffs.
