DRC, Cameroon and Zimbabwe start with wins as Botswana, Tunisia settle for draws - EWN

The Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon and Zimbabwe made winning starts to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaigns, while Botswana and Tunisia were held to draws in their opening Group H fixtures.

The DRC defeated Equatorial Guinea 2–0 at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa to open their Group E campaign with three points.

Sébastien Desabre’s side made the most of home advantage to claim a valuable victory and move to the top of the group after the opening round of matches. Equatorial Guinea, meanwhile, were left to rue missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Botswana were held to a 2–2 draw by Libya at the Tripoli International Stadium in their Group H opener.

The Zebras will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Tunisia on September 28, while Libya face Uganda in their next qualifier.

Ghana suffered a disappointing start to their Group C campaign after losing 2–0 to Ivory Coast.

The result gives Ivory Coast three points and a clean sheet, while Ghana will have to regroup quickly ahead of their next qualifier against The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 27.
