Eduardo Bolsonaro, in US Since 2025, Fired From Federal Police for Abandoning Post - 21/09/2026 - Brazil - Folha de S.Paulo

Brazil's Justice Ministry fired former federal lawmaker Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) from the Federal Police on Monday (21) for abandoning his post as a police clerk. He has lived in the United States since 2025, where he works to turn the US government against the Lula (PT) administration. The measure was published in the Official Gazette.

The son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Eduardo had his congressional mandate revoked in December last year for excessive absences.

Monday's decision states that Eduardo was absent from work without justification for more than 30 consecutive days. The action resulted from an administrative proceeding opened by the Federal Police in January, after he failed to report back to resume his duties. Without his congressional mandate, he was required to return to his post, which he did not do.

In June 2025, the Supreme Court's First Panel sentenced the former lawmaker to four years and two months in prison, initially under a semi-open regime, for coercion in the course of proceedings, due to his actions in the US to intimidate Brazil's judiciary.
