TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Erling Haaland could leave Manchester City if the club is relegated from the Premier League, while Arsenal have reportedly made contact with the Norwegian striker’s representatives.

The reports come as Manchester City await the outcome of the Premier League’s financial case against the club. City have been found guilty of 114 breaches of financial fair play rules covering the period from 2009 to 2018, according to Football365, and are expected to appeal once a punishment is determined.

The Premier League is reportedly seeking a severe punishment against City.

Reporter Ben Jacobs told talkSPORT that the league has been pushing for a “significant” and potentially record points deduction, with relegation also among the possible sanctions.

Jacobs also reported that the English Football League could support the Premier League's position if City are relegated.

He said there was a possibility that, in a worst-case scenario, City could be excluded from the EFL as well, potentially leaving the club outside England's professional football structure.

City intend to appeal the punishment once it is announced.

Haaland is currently one of the biggest stars at the Etihad Stadium, but his future could become uncertain if City are relegated.

Football Insider previously reported that Arsenal and Real Madrid had moved quickly in anticipation of a severe punishment and had made contact with Haaland's camp.

Journalist Pete O'Rourke has since reported that Haaland would not want to remain at City and help the club return to the Premier League if they were relegated.

That would make the 26-year-old one of the biggest names potentially available should City suffer a major sporting and financial setback.

A potential move for Haaland would not necessarily be straightforward, however.

Despite previous reports, there is reportedly no relegation clause in his Manchester City contract. That means his departure would likely require a major transfer fee.

Haaland is also regarded as one of the world's leading strikers and is in the prime years of his career, potentially making any transfer one of the most expensive deals in football.

Arsenal have been linked with Erling Haaland as they prepare to strengthen their attack.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are expected to sign a new striker in 2027. Arsenal previously tried to sign Julian Alvarez and also showed interest in Vinicius Junior.

A move for Haaland would represent a significantly larger transfer operation, particularly if Manchester City's potential punishment makes the Norwegian available.

For now, however, Haaland's future remains dependent on the outcome of Manchester City's financial case and any punishment ultimately imposed on the club.

If City are relegated, the resulting player departures could reshape the squad, with Haaland potentially among the biggest names to leave the Etihad.
