Excise launches one-window facility

The Rawalpindi Excise and Taxation Department has formally launched a "One-Window Facilitation Centre" to facilitate citizens in government-related matters. Under the new system, special staff have been deployed at the reception gate of the Excise and Taxation Office to receive applications from citizens and forward their relevant issues to the concerned departments. Property tax, professional tax and motor vehicle tax issues will be dealt with at one place, and every citizen's application or issue will be resolved within two days so that they do not have to repeatedly visit the office. Director Excise and Taxation Nauman Khalid will personally supervise the one-window system to ensure timely action on citizens' applications and complaints. He said providing relief to the public was the department's top priority and the entire process would be made more transparent, faster and more effective. The director said that after the initial phase, the one-window facility would be fully computerised, which would further improve the monitoring of applications, availability of records and timely resolution of issues. "The doors of my office are always open to every applicant. Whoever comes to resolve an issue will be heard and, to the maximum possible extent, immediate relief will be provided," he said.
