Swarts was found dead near a dam in Joostenberg Vlakte last Monday.
A 14-year-old boy, who is also a relative, has been arrested and charged with her murder.
The family said the search for the Grade 4 learner began on the Sunday afternoon after she failed to return home by her curfew.
